53. (The deva said:) "Who is a friend to one who is travelling? Who is a friend in one's own home? Who is a friend when some business is at hand? What is a friend in one's future existence?" (The Bhagava said:) "A travelling companion is a friend to one who is travelling. The mother is one's friend at home. A close associate is one's friend, time and again, when some business is at hand. The merit of one's own good actions is one's friend in one's future existence." End of the Mitta Sutta, the third in this vagga. |
