      53. (The deva said:)

      "Who is a friend to one who is travelling? Who is a friend in one's own home? Who is a friend when some business is at hand? What is a friend in one's future existence?"

      (The Bhagava said:)

      "A travelling companion is a friend to one who is travelling. The mother is one's friend at home. A close associate is one's friend, time and again, when some business is at hand. The merit of one's own good actions is one's friend in one's future existence."
